Department of Mechanical Engineering at SVBIT has been started since the inception of the institute in the academic year 2009. The department offers Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BE), Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) and Postgraduate Programme (ME) in Production Engineering. The current intake is 30 students for BE, 60 for Diploma and 24 students for ME. This Department has experienced staff members. The department has over a dozen laboratories with sophisticated equipments like C.N.C. Machines and well equipped CAD-CAM Lab with Pro-Engineer Software. The department is excellent in preparing students for the success in their professional career through research, pragmatic instruction and community service under the direction of highly motivated, qualified faculties. 

The department has always strived for excellence to modernize its laboratories. The department conducts active research and has had several breakthroughs. Every year, students undergo in-plant training and industry projects. The students, with their innovative ideas present technical papers at National Level Symposiums and are successful in whatever fields they have adopted for their professional career.
